Canoeing

Cath explained all the clothing we had to wear and we had only 20 minutes to get ready and be down at the minibuses which were to take us to Strangford Lough.  Ms Greenwood was amazed we managed to get ready so quickly.  The wellie store was a bit of a nightmare....but we all got sorted eventually and it was off to unload the canoes.

Once we had got all the canoes in the water, Cath, Rod and Georgie rafted them together with poles.  That meant that we were in 3 teams of 8.  Cath's team found their rhythm pretty quickly and were first to reach Salt Island.  Georgie's team found that singing helped them row together and they made it back to the minibuses first.

It took a while to get into the rhythm of rowing
Some of us dared to stand up.

Cath showed us how to make faces on Salt Island, where we had stopped to have a picnic.

We've heard of a muscle man.  This one has a mussel nose.

Is this the first seaweed scarecrow?

Some of the boys found the temptation to walk in the water too hard to resist and ended up with very soggy feet.  Thank goodness for the drying room!!
